Chief executive Carl Hall has paid tribute to Dennis Hartley after the former Dons player passed away.

Hartley made 120 appearances for the club from 1956-1960, giving great service and holding heritage number 082.

He went on to play more than 200 games for Hunslet, before Castleford paid a substantial figure at the time so secure his services. During his time at Weldon Road, Hartley won two Challenge Cups and represented Great Britain on 11 occasions.

Hall said: “Dennis will be greatly missed and will go down as a true legend of rugby league after his service to different clubs.

“He gave a significant contribution to the Dons and I’m sure fans of the club will want to pay their own respects.”
