Half-back Matty Beharrell has committed his future to the Dons by signing a new two-year deal with the club.

The 25-year-old has been a key member of the side since arriving at the Keepmoat Stadium in 2018 from Keighley Cougars, and will now remain in South Yorkshire until the end of 2021.

Beharrell’s performance levels were recognised last season as he was named as the Fans’ Player of the Year at the club’s End of Season Awards night.

He said: “I'm happy to that it's all done and dusted and I'm staying at the Dons for another two seasons.

"I have really enjoyed my time here so far and the fans have been really good with me which was a big part of me wanting to stay.

"I had other options but I am determined to get this club back into the Championship, hopefully next year we can do that and I can't wait for the season to come around."

Head coach Richard Horne said: “Matty has been an important player for us over the past 18 months and he is a player we were keen to keep hold of.

“His organisation skills and overall kicking game helps us to get around the park and I’m really pleased he sees his future here.”
