Richard Horne believes his side have a lot of work to do after falling to defeat at Oldham in Betfred League One.

The Dons were beaten 40-14 at the Vestacare Stadium, and Horne says their performance was well below par.

He said: “It was very disappointing considering how much we spoke about the importance of the game as a team and a club.

"We made errors and they dominated field position, which meant we were trying to create things off the back of slow plays.

“We did a good job on them when we last came here but it was nowhere near that on this occasion.”

With a two week gap between games, Horne says the players will be looking to show a reaction in training before taking on Keighley on September 1.

He added: “I thought we were taking the right steps forward but that performance shows that we’ve got a lot of work to be done.

“There will be no week off and we’ll put everything into making sure that we’re ready for the Keighley game in a couple of weeks time."
