Richard Horne says he has learnt a lot in the two years he has spent as Dons head coach so far.

Horne guided the Dons to the Betfred League One play-off semi-final in his first full season in charge, and believes there have been plenty of improvements since his appointment.

He said: “I’ve learnt a lot particularly coming from a full-time environment to a part-time one, it’s completely different in how you approach coaching.

“I feel like it’s helped me get the best out of the boys here and I’d like to think I can continue to do that.

“I think there has been improvements in us each year, from missing out on the play-offs in 2017 to going really close last year.”

As the 2019 campaign starts to gather pace, Horne is confident that his side will continue to progress heading into the latter stages.

He added: “Our starts to seasons haven’t been as good as we would have liked, so that is something that we will focus on moving forward.

“During my time here we have built into the campaign as it’s gone on, and it looks like we’re gearing up for that now.

“Hopefully we can continue that and really get into our stride when it comes to the key games at the end of the year.”
