NEWS | Green looking ahead to Batley test

12th April 2019

Assistant head coach Pete Green says the Dons are looking forward to testing themselves against Batley Bulldogs this weekend.

The Championship side travel to the Keepmoat Stadium in the Challenge Cup fifth round, and Green believes it will be an entertaining game.

He said: “Our form has been a little bit patchy recently so it will be a good test for us going up against Championship opposition.

“We know what we’re up against, Batley are a tough physical side and it’s a little bit of a local rivalry.

“It’s a test for a lot of individuals to see where they’re at physically, we’ve prepared well so we’ll see where we’re at.”

Green is hoping a fast pitch at the Keepmoat will give the Dons a good opportunity to progress in the competition.

He added: “Even though our main focus is on the league, we need to make sure we’re picking up results in the cup competitions.

“You need momentum and to keep improving, the lads have looked at a lot of video to see where we can improve.

“It’s better to be at home, if we get good conditions then that will allow us to move the ball and cause them problems.”
