17th October 2018

Students have started back at Club Doncaster Sports College and with it the Doncaster Rugby League Academy have kicked off the new season in the AoC League.

The summer saw the appointment of ex-Dons player Mitch Vincent as head coach and the Academy has started to flourish with more students becoming involved by the week.

The 2018/19 season started with two very tough games against Archbishop of Sentamu and Wyke sixth form college, both from the rugby league hotbed of Hull.

The Dons Academy came out of both games with huge credit, winning one game and suffering a narrow loss in the other.

Head coach Vincent said: “The lads performed really well in both games and it’s great to have the Dons Academy buzzing.

“I’m really enjoying helping the players develop and enjoy their rugby league.”

Club Doncaster Sports College principal Adi Turnpenny said: “They represent Club Doncaster Sports College and Doncaster RLFC with immense pride.

“The Dons Academy is great for our students to be part of alongside their studies and we are looking forward to seeing both the academy and the college continue to grow.”
