Richard Horne praised the way his side handled the conditions during the 74-10 win over Hemel Stags in Betfred League One.

The Dons scored 14 tries as they got back to winning ways against the Stags, and Horne was pleased with the performance in 30 degree heat.

He said: "I thought the boys handled themselves really well for the majority of the game, we looked slightly tired in the final 20 minutes but overall I'm really happy.

"We spoke about a fast start against a side like Hemel, we set the pace for the game and got our rewards for it with three tries in the first nine minutes.

"The conditions were tough and we completed really well, we haven't been good in the past at getting to the end of our sets and we managed to do that for the most part which is pleasing."

Jack Sanderson put in a four-try display, including a first-half hat-trick, and the head coach praised the 20-year-old's work from the full-back position.

He added: "I know he can play in that position and we felt that Richard Owen could do well on the wing, Sando had the pace when he got the opportunities to score some tries.

"He's a talent and has got a lot of potential, he's a good size and his pace can hurt teams, it's down to him to keep working on his game for more improvements."
