Jordie Hedges was pleased to have an impact for the Dons in the 29-20 win over Keighley Cougars in Betfred League One.

The 22-year-old produced a man of the match display at the Keepmoat Stadium and says the win was much needed.

He said: “It was a massive win for us, Rich made it known at the start of the week that the most important thing was for us to get the result.

“We were down at half-time but we’d managed to get ourselves back in the game with a couple of tries before the break.

“I think we need to improve on the penalties we’ve been giving away as that hurt us at times, so we’ll look at that and try to take them out of our game.”

Hedges was back in the side after missing the defeat to Oldham, and felt he did enough to get a run in the starting XIII.

He added: “Every time you go out on the field it’s important to show the coach what you can do, so that was an added incentive for me to do a job and play well.

“I feel comfortable wherever I play, the boys really got around each other and I was really fired up out there to make sure we got the win for the fans.

“I go out there every week and wear my heart on my sleeve for the team, that’s all I can do so hopefully it means I stay in the team.”
