Richard Horne praised his side’s character after they came from behind to beat Keighley Cougars in Betfred League One.

The Dons were 14-0 down during the first-half at the Keepmoat Stadium, but battled back to win 29-20 and keep in touch with the sides above them in the table.

Horne said: “It’s good to have a winning dressing room and that was the talk all week, our focus was firmly on getting the result and making sure we go home with the two points.

“We managed to get the win having started poorly, for us to come back from 14-0 down shows great character from the boys.

“It was a 7-2 penalty count in the first-half which really hurt us until we started to play, fortunately for us that evened itself out after half-time.”

The head coach was full of praise for Jordie Hedges, who played in the halves and kicked five conversions to help secure the two points.

He added: “His goal-kicking was great and his radar was good with the touchline conversions so it’s a good find for us as a team.

“It’s the first time he’s played big minutes so we had to manage him towards the end of the game, but he did a really good job and controlled things for us.

“I want to get some consistency in selection and I don’t want to be making too many changes when we have put in such a good performance.”
