Richard Horne felt his side did well defensively as they kept Hemel Stags scoreless at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The 60-0 win in Betfred League One kept the Dons at the top of the table, and Horne was pleased with their overall display.

He said: "We knew Hemel would never give in, it was a game that we felt we should be winning and we spoke a lot before the game about keeping the score-line to a zero.

"It was a big focus to keep our defence tight, it was more about the performance rather than the result given how the two sides looked ahead of the game.

"I didn't think we were great first-half but we improved after that, there were too many errors and we maybe tried to push our attack a bit too much."

Horne believes the victory against the Stags will set the Dons up nicely for the Challenge Cup fifth round tie against Featherstone Rovers next weekend.

He added: "We scored in patches and when we play we've got the skill and strike on the edges to post points, it can get a little messy at times and we lose a bit of our composure.

"Jack Miller had his first game back in the halves after 10 days training so he will be rusty but the game time will be good for him and he will improve.

"We've had a few lads come in and they always do a job when we need them, they understand how important they are and they're key to adding that squad value."

The Dons return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Featherstone in the Challenge Cup on Sunday April 22, you can purchase tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at
