Richard Horne believes a long turnaround between games will help the Dons as they look to get back to winning ways against North Wales Crusaders this weekend.

The Dons go into the game on the back of a defeat against York on Good Friday, and Horne is hoping they have learnt their lessons from that game.

He said: "We've had a good break between games and that has allowed us to step things up in training and get the boys ready for some tough games coming up.

"We've made a few changes to our squad and the boys coming in will be fresh, the Easter period is always tough in rugby league but we're in good shape.

"We had a long turnaround last month and we went up to Newcastle and got the win on the back of that, so we'll be looking for more of the same this weekend."

Horne is expecting North Wales to arrive at the Keepmoat Stadium with a nothing to lose mentality, having recently appointed Anthony Murray as head coach.

He added: "Every player wants to impress the new coach and that will be the case this weekend, we have to guard against that and make sure our performance is up to scratch.

"We have to be professional and get the job done, we want to get back to winning ways and put on a good show in front of our fans as they have been brilliant this season.

"A win this weekend would put us in a good position ahead of what will be a key month in our season, we want to build some momentum back up."
