PREVIEW | Horne ready for Barrow

4th August 2017

Richard Horne believes his side have what it takes to kick-start their Super 8s campaign with a win at Barrow Raiders this weekend.

The Dons suffered defeat against Keighley last time out and Horne says his players must be on top of their game if they are to overcome the Raiders.

“We weren’t at it last week and there wasn’t a specific reason for that, we trained well in the build-up to the game and it was just errors that cost us,” he said.

“If we can keep hold of the ball and run hard then we know we can cause them problems. We’ve got some great strike on our edges so it’s about every man doing his own job right.

“We’ve got the size and ability within our forwards to be able to match Barrow, we’re a big team and we need to make sure we balance what we do in attack and defence.”

The Dons head coach is expecting a tough physical test against the Cumbrian side, following a 24-24 draw between the two sides earlier on this season.

“Their halves are good, they get them around the field and they can execute and find the right passes which can cause you problems,” he added.

“We showed in the draw against them earlier in the season that we are physically as good as them, it’s just making sure we’re in the game and that we take our opportunities when they come.

“We’ve got a big squad now so we’ve got players that can come in, the likes of Miloudi and Westerman are available which adds to the options we have.”
