Nick Rawsthorne is looking to hold down a spot in the Dons’ starting XIII after scoring on his second debut for the club in the 32-24 defeat to Keighley Cougars at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Rawsthorne signed earlier this month on loan from Hull FC until the end of the season and believes his ability to play in a number of positions will benefit the Dons.

“I can play at centre, or on the wing as well as full-back which means I can bring a lot to the team, hopefully that versatility will ensure I get a lot of game time under my belt,” he said.

“I’m hoping for a big year next year so it’s important that I come here and get some game time, I want to keep improving and I’m enjoying it here.

“I’ve had games with a few teams this year and feel I’ve done well, coming here I want to keep the form going and help the Dons out as much as I can.”

The 21-year-old says the relationship between the Dons and Hull FC was a major factor in him deciding to make the move to South Yorkshire for the remainder of 2017.

“Richard being here was massive for me, the connection between the Dons and Hull FC is always building and even more so now he is the head coach here,” he added.

“He’s trying to implement his style of play here which can be tough in terms of switching from full-time to part-time but he’s doing a great job and wants to play and expansive style of rugby.

“We know that in this league if we can shift the ball quickly and keep our errors to a minimum then we can be a match for any team.”
